The Parish of Glenavy Child Safeguarding Statement
The Parish of Glenavy seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children and youth who participate in our programs and activities. By implementing the practices below our goal is to protect the children and youth of the Parish of Glenavy from misconduct or inappropriate behaviour while also protecting our staff and volunteers from false accusations.
Definition of children
For purposes of this statement the terms “child” or “children” includes all persons under the age of eighteen (18) years.
Selection of workers and volunteers
All employees and persons who desire to work with children in the Parish of Glenavy participating in our programs and activities shall undergo an Enhanced Access NÍ check.
Personal Interview
When the Enhanced Access NI check is complete those seeking to work with children will be interviewed by members the Parish Safeguarding panel.
Reference Checks
Before being permitted to work with children two of the references given by the interviewee will be checked. These references should not be from family or personal friends.
